Linger
Linger
Remember that summer day
We walked in the evergreens
Off the trail, just because
We collected pine cones
For our own amusement
I didn't know I was in love yet
But I lingered in the moment
Knowing summer days are phantoms
Here to haunt us in time
Wanting to remain in the trees
Because when you touched my hand
I dropped the pinecones
On the path ahead of us
And for a moment
I could see my future
