Long Point Beach
Long Point Beach
Empty trails
Through scrubby pines
You tell me it's worth the hike
I try not to judge
Dawn is for dreaming awake
Not exploring wasteland
With frosted lips
Staring at icy bare trees
Branches low and sleepy
But I keep walking
Until the trees shrink
To bramble and bush
Revealing tall beach grass
Miles of yellow ribbon
And rolling dunes
Set against
A watercolor sky
The hint of expansive blue
But before the reveal
I hear the waves
Crashing on the winter shore
And I feel a rush
I should trust you more
Lke the ocean
You are always there
Even when the people have left
